A remarkable
alternative to the Everest Base Camp is the Gokyo Lake which provides perfect
views of four of the highest mountains in the world – Mount Everest (8848m),
Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,481m) and Cho Oyu (8153m). Experience the scenic
beauty of Gokyo Lake draped in a Himalayan backdrop. The highlight of this trek
is the challenging ascent of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) which rewards climbers with
panoramic views of many peaks and a sight which encapsulates Ngozumpa – Nepal’s
largest glacier. This trek reaches high altitudes quite quickly so it is
important to take the suggested acclimatisation days and to be aware of signs
of altitude sickness. For more information, please refer to the health and
safety section. It is possible to combine this trek with the Everest Base Camp
trek.

Flight KTM – Lukla and trek to Phakding, 5 hrs.
Trek Phakding – Namche Bazaar, 6 hrs.
Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar. Optional hike to Khumjung and Khunde village, 4-5 hhrs.
Trek Namche Bazaar – PhortseThanga, 4-5 hrs. Afternoon visit to Phortse villag
Trek Phortse Thanga – Dhole, 3-4 hrs.
Trek Dhole – Machherma, 3-4 hrs.
Trek Machherma – Gokyo, 4 hrs.
Climb Gokyo Ri and return to Gokyo, 3 hrs.
Trek Gokyo – Dole, 5-6 hrs.
Trek Dhole – Namche Bazaar, 5-6 hrs.
