No doubt Nepal is blessed
with beautiful places, small land with great beauties has many things to offer
travelers. Untouched and unexplored
region but with a potential to have it imprinted in your mind. Talking about
such beauty of Nepal you can’t one miss Phoksundo in the list. Honestly,
Phoksundo Lake is considered one of the most beautiful and exotic tourist
destinations located in Dolpo, is one the largest landmark in the district.
They say a difficult path leads to the most beautiful destination. Truly, Phoksundo Lake Trek has proven this
sentence. It is one of the most
beautiful and deepest lakes of Nepal. Carrying both tourism and religious value
has been in the bucket list of both categories of tourist. Phoksundo is an
alpine freshwater lake and has sacred beliefs by the followers of Buddhist and
Bon-po religions, making the trek an amazing mix of nature and culture.
You would get the best
panoramic view of the lake, the view is truly breathtaking. During winters the
lake remains gliterred in ice, along with its surrounding region. The lake
remains frozen up to April. In late spring, the lake is surrounded with
wildflowers, creating a riot of colors. The rhododendrons, blue and yellow
poppies, various species of primulas, irises create a divine scenery. The water
in the lake are small streams originated makin their way from the Himalayas and hence the lake water
is always freezing cold. The trails pass
through beautiful landscapes, thick pine forests and along wild rivers along
with amazing views of beautiful snow-capped mountains. The main highlight of
the trek is the mesmerizing deep-blue and sapphire glow of the deepest lake in
Nepal, Phoksundo Lake. This is truly one of the most beautiful natural
destinations you would like to visit.
The surprising part about
this lake is that the water doesn’t freeze even during the winters, as said by
the local people of Dolpo. However the trek is not known for wildlife, I mean
there no animal life at all, not even a trace of it. Not to forget about this amazing
feature of changing its color of the Lake. Is it blue, or green or silver? Well, even though the lake is known for its
deep aquamarine blue color, it changes its color according to the light falling
upon it. It's color changes from glowing silver to dark greenish also color
bluish gray at times. Anyone who stands to glare at the views of Numala and
Bagala passes which are on the way to Dho Tarap from the lake bank seems to get
the thoughts of heaven, that's how heavenly the destination feels like.
